The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has announced that Prince Mlimandlela Ndamase has joined the party as a member and volunteer. The announcement was recently made in a statement by UDM President and Deputy Minister Bantu Holomisa, MP. Holomisa said Prince Ndamase joins the party with substantial experience in political activism, government, strategic communication, local government and rural development.
“Prince Ndamase joins the UDM with substantial experience in political activism, government, strategic communication, local government and rural development,” Holomisa said. According to the statement, Prince Ndamase’s political involvement dates back to his youth activism in the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the Eastern Cape and his leadership in the Eastern Cape Youth Commission.
He has maintained a strong interest in rural development and improving the circumstances of communities that remain geographically and economically marginalised.Professionally, he has served as a Ministerial Spokesperson at national and provincial level, including in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.
More recently, he worked in the City of Johannesburg’s mayoral communications environment under several Executive Mayors. He has also applied his experience outside government through the establishment of a sports marketing firm focused on positioning South Africa as an international sports tourism destination. Holomisa said Prince Ndamase’s experience will strengthen the organisation as it prepares for the Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026 and beyond.
“The UDM and I warmly welcome Prince Ndamase’s decision to join the Party. His experience and capabilities will strengthen our organisation as we prepare for the Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026 and beyond,” he said.”
“The UDM respects Prince Ndamase’s political history. We do not ask him to erase it. Experience acquired elsewhere does not disappear when political circumstances change. What matters now is what he brings to the future and how that experience can best serve the UDM and the people of South Africa.”
Holomisa added that after necessary internal consultation, the UDM leadership will determine how Prince Ndamase’s experience can best be utilised in line with the organisation’s priorities. The UDM also announced a major gathering on 12 September 2026 at the Mthatha Great Hall and Botha Sigcau Precinct to welcome a new generation of members and to announce its mayoral candidate for the King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality.
The party said the growth of the UDM in Mthatha and throughout the OR Tambo Region will be marked by the gathering.Among those to be welcomed is Her Royal Highness Princess Ndileka Dlamini (Dalindyebo), a member of the AbaThembu Royal House, daughter of the late King Sabata Dalindyebo and Queen Nomoscow, and sister to the reigning King Zwelibanzi Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo. Princess Ndileka brings extensive experience in public affairs, including her service as a Senator in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
“The 12 September 2026 gathering will therefore not simply be another political event. It will be a demonstration of the growing momentum behind the UDM in Mthatha and broader KSD,” Holomisa said.”Prince Mlimandlela Ndamase has found his political home in the UDM. Welcome home Faku! We are coming home to rebuild,” he concluded.
