Mount Ayliff
June is a crucial time to celebrate youth month, give career guidance, motivate, offer support and hope to young people.
The Eastern Cape Department of Labour in partnership with Alfred Nzo District Municipality recently held a Career Expo in Mount Ayliff Technical High School, EmaXesibeni.
The program’s objectives was to provide learners with guidance on how to develop and improve their skills and careers as individuals who are closer to accessing the institutions of higher learning and therefore, some may be in need of bursaries.
It was also a platform for government departments to share information on available, free resources for assisting learners in applying for accredited institutions of higher learning, the importance of choosing scarce skills and for those who may choose to pursue employment opportunities after Grade 12.
“We are very happy that government departments have decided to visit and take part in encouraging our learners, so that they can prosper” said Mr Mgele, the School’s principal.
Amongst Stakeholders who attended the program were the Eastern Cape Department of Transport, Alfred Nzo Development Agency and the Eastern Cape Department of Sports Recreation Arts and Culture. In an effort to celebrate Youth Month, Career Expo programs will continue throughout the areas of Alfred Nzo District.
