{"id":1048,"date":"2026-03-17T12:39:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T12:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecmessenger.co.za\/?p=1048"},"modified":"2026-03-17T12:46:51","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T12:46:51","slug":"ancyl-eastern-cape-concludes-pec-induction-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecmessenger.co.za\/index.php\/2026\/03\/17\/ancyl-eastern-cape-concludes-pec-induction-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"ANCYL Eastern Cape Holds Its First PEC Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mthatha<\/p>\n<p>The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the Eastern Cape has successfully concluded a three-day Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) Induction Programme and the inaugural meeting of the newly elected 8th Provincial Executive Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The programme, held at the Mthatha Savoy Hotel from 11 \u2013 13 March 2026, brought together members of the newly elected PEC, facilitators from the Political Education and Training Unit of the African National Congress, movement leaders and representatives of national leadership structures.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the opening of the programme, Provincial Chairperson of the ANCYL in the Eastern Cape, Comrade Lihle Chalo, emphasised the historic responsibility carried by the Youth League to organise, mobilise and defend the interests of young people.<\/p>\n<p>The induction programme covered several important themes, including the state and the economy, the constitution and history of the ANCYL, liberation movements across the African continent and continental solidarity, and the Strategy and Tactics of the African National Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Said Lihle Chalo, &#8220;Political education remains central to the sustainability of revolutionary movements and that the induction programme was designed to strengthen the ideological grounding and political consciousness of the leadership collective.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement the PEC said it\u00a0 acknowledges that the Youth League assumes leadership at a complex political moment characterised by persistent youth unemployment, deepening economic inequality, shifting geopolitical dynamics and the urgent need to rebuild and strengthen organisational structures.<\/p>\n<p>The PEC further reaffirmed that the Youth League must remain a militant, disciplined and programme-driven organisation capable of mobilising young people around the struggle for economic transformation, social justice and youth development.<\/p>\n<p>At the event young people\u00a0 also deliberated on a range of political, organisational and socio-economic issues affecting young people in the province, including youth unemployment, economic empowerment, and corporate accountability.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting resolved to call for youth unemployment to be declared a State of Disaster and for large corporations to take greater responsibility for social reconstruction and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The induction programme included outdoor team-building activities designed to strengthen unity, trust and cooperation among members of the newly elected PEC, as well as political education and organisational orientation. The programme aimed to consolidate unity within the leadership collective, deepen ideological clarity, and prepare the newly elected leadership to implement the mandate given by Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The PEC also constituted the Provincial Working Committee, which will lead the organisation in the province.<\/p>\n<p>The Provincial Working Committee is composed as follows:<br \/>\n1.
