The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature’s Economic Growth Cluster will conduct oversight visits across the province from 21 to 24 July 2026. The cluster comprises four Portfolio Committees responsible for oversight of the Departments of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism; Transport; Agriculture; Human Settlements; Public Works and Infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The oversight programme will include visits to various projects and engagements with stakeholders in different areas to assess the state of service delivery and monitor the implementation of departmental proojects. These visits will enable Members of the Provincial Legislature to determine whether funds appropriated to departments are being utilised for their intended purposes and whether projects are achieving their expected impact.<\/p>\n
As part of the Legislature’s constitutional oversight mandate, committees will engage directly with communities, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to obtain first-hand information on the effectiveness and impact of government interventions.
\nThe programme seeks to strengthen oversight, public participation, accountability and transparency in government across the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality and the Joe Gqabi, Sarah Baartman, Chris Hani and Amathole District Municipalities.<\/p>\n
Among the projects and facilities to be visited are:<\/p>\n
– Mayibuye Transport Corporation Bus Depot
\n– \u2060Kinkelbos Weighbridge
\n– \u2060Makana Traffic Station
\n– \u2060Elundini Local Municipality Alien Invasive Species Eradication Project, Wards 5 and 6 community projects
\n– \u2060Animal Handling Facility in Senqu and Mguli Multipurpose Shed<\/p>\n
