The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature will be hosting a Parliament for Senior Citizens on Friday, 26 September 2025 at the Raymond Mhlaba Chamber in Bhisho under the theme “Towards full realisation of rights of all older persons, an investment to our heritage”.<\/p>\n
The Parliament for Senior Citizens seeks to create a platform for delegates and participants that are representing the elderly, as identified in districts and metropolitan municipalities across the province.<\/p>\n
The delegates will have an opportunity to engage Members of the Provincial Legislature on issues affecting them as senior citizens and on realities they are confronted with, which include amongst others financial and physical abuse, as well as neglect. The sectoral parliament will also assist the Legislature to enhance its oversight role over the executive and to account on how these issues are addressed by relevant departments.<\/p>\n
