This achievement brings joy and improved learning conditions to learners and educators. The handover ceremony demonstrates the commitment of local government officials, such as Mayor Nomvuyo Mposelwa and MEC Fundile Gade, to improving education in the area.<\/p>\n<p>MEC Gade, officially handed over the\u00a0 R70 million newly upgraded school, built under the Department of Education\u2019s Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Iniative (ASIDI), accommodates 154 Grade 1 \u2013 7 learners and boasts modern amenities such as an administrative building (362\ud835\udc5a2), 4-classroom building (240\ud835\udc5a2), 3-classroom and HOD building (195\ud835\udc5a2), science and computer labs, multipurpose center (103\ud835\udc5a2), nutrition center (290\ud835\udc5a2) , 12 water tanks with stands, 589m of security fencing, ablution facilities and a netball court \u2013 amongst other facilities.<\/p>\n<p>NN Architects were appointed by the Department of Education (DOE) &#8211; through the Independent Development Trust (IDT) &#8211; as the Principal Agent and construction began in June 2020, concluding in February 2025 with over 60 job opportunities created.<\/p>\n<p>In her welcoming remarks, Cllr Mposelwa emphasised that the upgraded school is more than just bricks and mortar \u2013 it is a commitment to restoring dignity and transforming the future of rural learners. \u201cWhen we invest in education, we invest in the soul of our nation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Education remains the single most powerful tool to break the shackles of poverty and unemployment and poverty, underscoring government\u2019s dedication to ensuring that every child, no matter where they are born, has access to quality education in a safe and modern environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She further extended gratitude towards the DOE and the MEC, saying \u201cyour efforts align perfectly with our vision as the district municipality, which is to build an improved quality of life for all residents\u201d. The Executive Mayor also commended the DOE and the IDT for their partnership in bridging the gap between rural and urban education through improved infrastructure, learner transport, and nutrition programmes.<\/p>\n<p>In his keynote address, MEC Gade reminded the community to take care of the new facility. In addition, he urged parents and teachers to actively participate in the development of children and advised the learners to work hard. \u201cLearning is a process of acquiring knowledge and skills. It is important for students to feel supported and guided on a daily basis\u201d, he mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>Principal, Ms A Ranthamane-Ranamane, emphasised the importance of safeguarding the new school against acts of vandalism and theft.
