The Sasol Engcobo Sports Tournament is in full swing at Ngcobo Sports Field, bringing together athletes, community members and leaders in a vibrant celebration of sport and wellness.Mayor Cllr Siyabulela Zangqa and Speaker Cllr Mandilakhe Kondile joined the festivities, with various teams participating in the tournament, including the Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality Soccer and Netball Teams.
The final matches are set to take place on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, and excitement is building as teams compete for top honours. Addressing participants and spectators, the Mayor expressed gratitude to Sasol for investing in the meaningful community programme.
He indicated that the initiative marks the beginning of a strong and lasting partnership that will grow into an annual event.Special thanks were extended to the community for coming out in large numbers to support the tournament. The Mayor further emphasised the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle, highlighting the positive role that sport plays in promoting health and social cohesion.
