Young entrepreneurs from Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality received vital equipment and business essentials to boost their ventures, as part of the Provincial Youth Month programme led by the Office of the Premier, Hon Oscar Lubabalo Mabuyane. The handover was officiated by the Hon Mayor Cllr Siyabulela Zangqa alongside Councillors, marking a significant step towards youth empowerment.
The month of June is celebrated as Youth Month to honor the role young people played in the fight against apartheid and the Soweto Uprising of 1976. The Soweto Uprising was a turning point in the struggle for liberation in South Africa. After democracy was established in 1994, June was declared Youth Month and June 16 was declared National Youth Day.
Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane emphasized that youth empowerment must not be seen as a once off event, but as a continuous revolution that drives real change amongst communities. As part of the programme, impactful legacy projects were also handed over to youth across the province. Source- Dr, AB Xuma Local Municipality
