Emalahleni Local Municipality in partnership with The Karen Gantsho Foundation recently brought joy and comfort to a 102-year-old woman’s life at Manyano Location in Indwe Town. The handover was that of essential items such as a brand-new Bed, bedding, linen and Groceries. The house renovations were also part of a good gesture provided by the Municipality to the old woman.
It is inspiring to see organizations like Gantsho Foundation, who typically focus on providing water, going above and beyond to support those in need. Their collaboration with Emalahleni Local Municipality started in a positive way, it is a great example of how partnerships can lead to fruitful outcomes for local communities.
Mrs Dayina Tshongoyi showed gratitude for the handed over items, praising the Municipality and the Foundation for their good sentiments. This partnership is viewed by many as highlighting the importance of community support and the impact that can be made when organizations and government departments work together to help vulnerable members of society.
Speaking on behalf of Karen Gantsho Foundation Mr Luvuyo Mooi the ambassador of the organization said, “I was one of the People who visited this household on Nelson Mandela Day with the Municipality and other Government Stakeholders as part of spending our 67 minutes here, having seen the condition of Mrs Tshongoyi bed and the home touched me.
“I then approached our Board members and presented it to them, even though our Foundation focuses mainly on the issues of water, we found it necessary to give a helping hand. our objective was on making a partnership with our Local Municipality, which is Emalahleni.
Mrs Tshongoyi thanked the Foundation and the municipality for their generous gesture. Said Tshongoyi,”I will never forget what you did for me in my last days. This is indeed a proud moment for me.”
Her worship Cllr.Nontombizanele Koni, the Mayor at Emalahleni Local Municipality made her heartfelt gratitude to Karen Gantsho Foundation Members, Ward Committees, neighbors, Municipal Community Services Workers who continue to make strides in improving the lives of the elderly.
The mayor pleaded with the children of Mrs Tshongoyi to take good care of their very own Mother.
Manyano Community members were also delighted to witness this as it was their wish to see a change at Gogo Tshongoyi household.
