The Northern Cape and Eastern Cape Provincial Governments signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for long-term Inter-Provincial cooperation for the implementation of the Strategic Renewable Energy Projects across the two provinces.
This landmark agreement is signed at the Phezukomoya Wind Energy Farm in Noupoort, in the Umsobomvu Local Municipality, which is situated in the Pixley Ka Seme District of the Northern Cape.
The MOU covers the Koruson Renewable Energy Cluster which includes both Koruson 1 and Koruson 2 which is developed by EDF Power Solutions and Envusa Energy respectively, and they spans both across the Eastern and Northern Cape(s).
The signing ceremony was attended by Senior Government Official from both provinces, as well as the affected District and Local Municipalities and the Project Stakeholders.
The MOU is signed by the Directors General of the two provinces namely Mr. M. Qwase (Acting DG)(ECPG)and Mr. Justice Bekebeke (NCPG), who were supported by two MECs from both provinces namely MEC Miriam Kibi (NC and MEC Nonkqubela Pieters (EC).
