Eastern Cape Premier Mr Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane today met with the Vice-Chancellor of Walter Sisulu University (WSU), Dr Thandi Mgwebi, and the university’s executive management at Lilian Diedericks House in Bhisho.The meeting was supported by members of the Provincial Executive Council.
The introductory engagement, following Dr Mgwebi’s appointment in January 2026, provided an opportunity for the university to present its programmes and its 2040+ Strategic Vision.Discussions focused on how to strengthen cooperation between the provincial government and the university to advance skills development, research, innovation and the socio-economic development of the province.
Premier Mabuyane emphasised that universities are important partners in building an Eastern Cape that creates opportunities for its people and prepares young people for the economy of the future.
